EdTech Tip of the Week: What is a Back Course Copy Request?

The Back Course Copy Request process allows instructors to select specific content from a term prefixed course (i.e., a live course running in a specific term) to be copied into a main course shell (i.e., the main repository for an individual course). This replaces the content in the main course shell with the content from the specific course identified by an instructor.

By filling out the Back Course Copy Request Form, the Instructional Technology team will reset (erase) the content in the main course shell and then copy in place the content from the identified term prefixed course.

This process is particularly useful for instructors who want a “jump start” on working in courses that have not yet been released in Canvas (e.g., Summer 2022 courses). Note that this process does not pertain to Wiley Courses at SMUMN.

Instructional Technology training opportunities for this week:

  • March 15th: Providing Feedback in Canvas @ 9:00am
  • March 17th: Using Data in Canvas to Inform Instruction @ noon
