Residence halls will officially close for Easter break on Wednesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. They will reopen on Monday, April 21, at noon.
Residents are required to complete a break checkout form in eRezLife prior to leaving campus. The form will be open Wednesday, April 9 and close at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16.
As a safety measure, Campus Safety routinely checks all units in the residence halls and apartments during periods when school is not in session. Occupancy of any campus housing during breaks without authorization may result in a fine and/or loss of campus housing.
Residence hall staff will check student rooms during break periods to ensure that no safety hazards exist. If a staff member should notice evidence of a violation of federal, state, or local laws, or a violation of university policies or procedures, the staff member can confiscate items in question and will file a report with the Office of Residence Life.
Due to health concerns, all students should clean their room before leaving for break (i.e., remove trash, food, etc.). Failure to do so may result in a fine.
You do not need to unplug your refrigerator for this break. If you choose to do so, please make sure the door of the refrigerator is left open and the refrigerator is defrosted and dry.
If a student needs to remain on campus for Easter break, they must contact the Office of Residence Life at reslife@smumn.edu for the break housing request form. This form needs to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15. Only those students who will be participating in SAINT MARY’S SPONSORED activities, traveling long distances (over 500 miles) or international students will be granted break housing unless specifically approved by the Office of Residence Life. A $35 per night fee may be added to a student account for remaining on campus for reasons other than those stated above.
If a student remains on campus for Easter break, food service will not be available. The cafeteria will close at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, and the Cardinal Club will close at 5 p.m. on the same date. Food service will reopen on Monday, April 21, for dinner.
The Cardinal Co-op food pantry will be open during break from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. in Griffin Hall #199. If you have any unopened, refrigerated food that cannot make the trip home with you, please consider donating it to the food pantry. Please speak with your RA or Hall Director for directions on how to donate.
