This Friday, the Most. Rev. Robert E. Barron, D.D., S.T.D. will be installed as the bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester. The installation will be streamed live on the https://www.facebook.com/cocathedralofstjohn.

Barron succeeds the Bishop John M. Quinn, AFSC, D.D., who has served in the role since 2009 and also taught in the Theology and Philosophy Department at Saint Mary’s.

Prior to being appointed as bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, Bishop Barron served as the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1986 and served as an associate pastor for a number of years. He later went on to serve as a professor of theology and president-rector of Mundelein Seminary. In 2000, he launched Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, which is broadcast around the world.

The Saint Mary’s community looks forward to working with Bishop Barron as he serves the diocese, and we express our continued gratitude to Bishop Quinn for his inspirational leadership and support of our university.
