SOL X PLC Invites the Community to Celebrate Día de los Muertos SOL X PLC invites the Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota community to join in celebrating Día de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead, on November 5 from 7–9 p.m. in the SMU Campus Common Room. This family-friendly event will bring people together to celebrate Mexican culture, honor loved ones who have passed away, and learn about the traditions that make this holiday so meaningful. Día de los Muertos is a Mexican tradition that celebrates the lives and memories of deceased loved ones. Rather than focusing solely on loss, the holiday emphasizes remembrance, love, and the lasting connections we share with those who are no longer with us. One important tradition is the ofrenda, or altar, which is decorated with meaningful objects, photographs, food, and other items to honor the memories of loved ones and pets. During the celebration, attendees can enjoy food, music, crafts, and other activities while connecting with others and learning more about the holiday’s cultural significance. Guests are also encouraged to bring a favorite photograph, food item, or meaningful object to place on the ofrenda as a way to honor someone special in their lives. Whether you are familiar with Día de los Muertos or are interested in learning more about the tradition, everyone is welcome to participate. The event provides an opportunity to appreciate Mexican culture, share meaningful memories, and celebrate the importance of family, community, and remembrance. Mark your calendars for November 5 from 7–9 p.m. in the SMU Campus Common Room. Come enjoy an evening of culture, creativity, and connection with SOL X PLC!
