David Ulaszek, assistant vice president for finance, announced he will be departing from Saint Mary’s University after accepting the position of chief financial officer for the University of Minnesota School of Liberal Arts. His last day at the university will be Oct. 13.

During his time at Saint Mary’s, Ulaszek helped transition the institution’s annual budget process, laid the groundwork for an incentive-based RCM allocation methodology, and overhauled financial reporting at the unit and board levels. He has built a variety of resource planning tools and models to support academic program planning processes, as well as advised strategic planning task forces and workgroups.

“I have been blessed to have worked with such a team of supportive and collaborative colleagues in Business & Operations and across the entire university,” Ulaszek said. “I am especially grateful for the leadership and mentorship of Ben Murray, Saint Mary’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.”

Murray said the following about working alongside Ulaszek, “I am extremely grateful to David for his leadership and hard work implementing the new RCM budget model, increasing our internal capacity to plan for the future, and for guiding university leaders through the financial challenges of the past two years. He has proven to be a great collaborator with all departments across the university and will be missed.”
