Thank you for celebrating National First-Generation College Student Day with us!
On Friday, November 8th, we came together with over 100 students, staff, and faculty on the Winona campus to honor the achievements of first-generation college students—those whose parents or guardians did not graduate from a four-year college or university. At Saint Mary’s, we recognize the unique challenges these students face and celebrate their role as trailblazers within their families.
National First-Generation College Student Day is just one way we honor these students. Throughout the year, the First Generation Initiative (FGI) Office hosts events, workshops, and gatherings to support first-generation students across campus. Thanks to the generosity of dedicated benefactors, FGI also offers a scholarship program currently supporting 53 full-time students.
Thank you to the Office of RISE, the Student Success Center, and the First Generation Initative Office for your collaboration and continued support of first gen students at Saint Mary’s.
