Campus Visits & Events Amid Covid-19

Visiting college campuses during COVID-19 has been a challenge for prospective students and colleges alike. The Office of Admission has been nimble and creative in offering students both online and modified in-person campus visits this recruitment cycle. We have welcomed close to 350 prospective students and their families to visit campus. 770 unique visitors have toured campus virtually via our newly created virtual campus tour.

Here is a list of all the events and webinars that were facilitate by the Office of Admission this Fall:

  • Making College More Affordable – Tuesday, August 10 at 6 p.m. – Hear from Joy Rockwell, our Associate Director of Financial Aid, about scholarship opportunities and ways to lessen the tuition cost.

  • How to Complete the College Application (Tips and Tricks) – Tuesday, August 24 at 6:00 p.m. Hear from our admission counselors as they walk you through the application process.

  • Selecting a College Q & A Session – Thursday, August 19 at 6:00 p.m. – Hear from current students on how they made their college decision and get the opportunity to ask them questions.

  • Perfecting the College Essay – Tuesday, August 17 at 6 p.m. – Hear from Professor, Carolyn Ayers Ph.D., on how to craft the perfect college essay.

  • 3+2 Webinar – Thursday, November 4 – Meet with staff from Mayo Clinic, Saint Mary’s faculty and current students to discuss our unique 3+2 Physician’s Assistant Program.

  • Family/Alumni Visit Day – Saturday, September 25 Purpose: To promote Saint Mary’s to students, especially those with SMUMN alumni in their families

  • Fall Outdoor Focus Day – Saturday, October 9

  • MEA Open House – Thursday, October 21 – Saturday, October 23

We continue to plan fun and engaging on campus events for Spring. Here are some of the upcoming events:
  • Junior Open House – Friday, March 11
  • Admitted Student Days Class of 2026 – Saturday, March 19 and Saturday, April 2

Planning is underway for Fall 2023 recruitment cycle is underway. The Office of Admission staff are excited to welcome students in-person to campus and are looking forward to planning innovative and unique admission events for prospective students.
