Dear Saint Mary’s Community,

This month, we honor and celebrate the rich legacy, profound achievements, and enduring contributions of Black individuals and collectives in our nation. From trailblazers who shattered barriers to visionaries who sparked change, Black history is woven into the fabric of our society.

Throughout Black History Month, we are presented with a unique opportunity to celebrate Black lives through the lenses of education, leadership, business, technology, healthcare, and human services. Join us in honoring the Black community this February and beyond. Here are ways to learn more, gain a deeper understanding, and celebrate this month:

  • Discover a playlist of songs by Black artists that express joy, happiness, and celebration

  • Read “Degrees of Freedom,” “Sister Outsider,” and “The Warmth of Other Suns.”

  • Watch “Competing While Black” and PBS’” Race Matters: American in Crisis.”

  • Tune into “Rondo: Beyond the Pavement: A Podcast”
