ALL Saint Mary’s students are invited and encouraged to audition for all of our productions. We promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our casting and decision making process.

General Auditions for Legally Blonde: The Musical and SPLaSH will take place on Tuesday, December 14 at 6:30pm in the Figliulo Recital Hall. Auditioners should prepare two musical theatre pop/rock songs and one short monologue. Songs should be cut to 16 – 32 bars (or 30 – 45 seconds) each. And you should include an up-tempo song as well as a ballad (slow song). The monologue should be 1 – 1:30 minutes. You will only have 3 minutes to audition, so time your material carefully. There will be a dance audition following the individual auditions (approximately 8:30pm).

All theatre majors auditioning for the spring shows must audition with prepared material. For non-majors without monologues, some short selections for cold readings will be provided.

All singers must prepare musical theatre songs to be considered for the musical and must have sheet music in the appropriate key for the pianist. Sandy Todd is the accompanist for auditions. She will be available to go over your songs with you on Saturday, December 11 in the Figliulo Recital Hall; 3 – 5pm. Bring your music!

Although no need to audition, we are also looking for pit musicians for the musical. Please send inquiry to Judy Myers at jmyers@smumn.edu or 507-450-3390.

Callbacks are Wednesday, December 15 (5 – 8pm for Legally Blonde and 8 – 10pm for SPLaSH). Stage Management will post callback lists on the callboard outside the Green Room as well as the online callboard following Tuesday’s general auditions. Please note your callback time(s) and location(s) as well as any special instructions. Scripts will be available at callbacks. There may also be a dance callback for Legally Blonde within its callback time.

Special Hair/Makeup/Tattoo Note: If cast, do NOT alter your hair or get new tattoos/piercings without consulting with Anastasia prior to leaving on winter break.

Rehearsals for both productions will begin Tuesday, January 18.  Other events such as KCACTF, USITT, SETC, Fireside, U/RTAs, Wisconsin Auditions, Midwest Theatre Auditions, MN Music Educators Conference, Chamber Singers Tour/Concert, ACDA, Gaslight, etc. should be noted as a conflict on your audition form. However, please be aware that these conflicts may affect casting you. Legally Blonde will NOT rehearse during tech week of SPLaSH.

Auditions for DRC Concert will take place Saturday, January 22 at 11:00am at the Valencia Arts Center. Auditions are open to intermediate and advanced dancers with experience in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, contemporary, and hip hop dance. Please bring a recent headshot, a print out of your class/work/ activities schedule, and wear appropriate dance attire and shoes. DRC cast will NOT be eligible for SPLaSH or Legally Blonde.
