If you use your @smumn email for your Apple ID, the following information is important for you to review.
Due to changes with Apple ID accounts and Saint Mary’s commitment to protecting our data, personal Apple ID accounts can no longer use a primary @smumn.edu email address.
If you have an Apple ID account using your @smumn.edu email address, you will receive a notification via email that will give you the below 2 options:
- Choose a new primary email address to continue using your Apple Account as a personal account.
- Transfer your personal Apple Account and its data to Saint Mary’s, which then converts it into a Managed Apple Account.
You can choose the option that best fits how you use your personal Apple Account:
- If you use the account for personal purposes, like storing your personal data or accessing services outside of work, you can keep it as a personal account by updating the primary email address.
- If you created the account for work or school purposes and won’t need it after leaving the university, you can transfer it to the organization. This ensures secure data management and gives you access to collaboration tools and enrollment features.
You have 30 days to make a choice. If no action is taken, the account will automatically be assigned a new non-@smumn.edu email address to remain as a personal account.
