The Minnesota State Grant progam provides need-based financial aid to many of our our students from Minnesota.  It enables many of them to to attend Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Last year, more than three hundred Saint Mary’s students were awarded Minnesota State Grant funds totaling approximately $1.6 million.

We are sharing this information with you because we need your help.

Saint Mary’s is collaborating with the Minnesota Private College Council to tell our legislators about the importance of the Minnesota State Grant for our students.   Will you help us continue to provide the opportunity of a Saint Mary’s education to more Minnesotans by asking our legislators, who make the funding possible, to continue and, perhaps, increase funding for this program?  If so, please join us for the  Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.  On that day, Saint Mary’s will provide a bus for students to the Capitol and back.  There will be a policy briefing, an opportunity to meet legislative leaders, and individual meetings with the legislators from your home district.  You’ll also have the chance to explore our beautiful Minnesota State Capitol.

You do not have to be a Minnesota resident or a MN State Grant recipient to participate in this Day.  You wil learn a lot about our legislative process and good citizenship through participation in this Day

You’ll get muffins and juice for breakfast, a free lunch at the Capitol, and a chance for door prizes on the way home.

Your attendance will send our legislators a strong message about how important the Minnesota State Grant program is to you and your fellow students.  When legislators hear firsthand that it’s a concern to you, they  listen.
