Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota has established a campus chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). The chapter will give students an opportunity to develop their leadership skills, connect with other students, and learn from leaders beyond the Saint Mary’s community. Select students will be invited to apply based on academic standing and GPA requirements.
Where will my nomination come from?
Nominations and the invitation to apply come from the National chapter and will be sent from no-reply@nsls.org. Questions can be directed to nsls@smumn.edu.
What is the difference between a member and an inducted member?
This can seem complex, but it’s really simple! Students who complete the Steps to Induction are considered inducted members. Those who haven’t are considered pre-inducted members. Well, those who are officially inducted members have access to more benefits, of course!
How long does it take to complete the Steps to Induction?
This depends on the person, but our mathematicians at the NSLS have calculated that the average member takes about nine hours to complete all the steps, usually spread out over the course of a single semester. Don’t stress about it! Complete the steps at your own pace, but remember: you won’t gain access to the full suite of benefits until you become inducted.
Is the NSLS legitimate?
Yes! The NSLS is the only accredited collegiate leadership development program in the nation, which means accreditation agencies have reviewed our coursework and have given us their stamp of approval.
How much is membership to the NSLS?
NSLS membership costs a one-time payment of $95. This provides you with lifetime access to the program, Speaker Broadcasts, and discounts with our partners. Students who cannot afford the one-time payment should connect with Tricia Dobrient (tdobrien@smumn.edu).
Will there be any in person event opportunities?
At the current moment, there are no in person events planned for the Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota chapter. We are just getting started, so if you join and would like to host events on campus (either in Winona or Minneapolis), please contact Tricia Dobrient (tdobrien@smumn.edu) for support!
