The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching is launching new asynchronous training experiences on teaching in the context of modern AI. Grounded in our position statement’s emphasis on human dignity and flourishing, this series invites participants to develop the practical wisdom needed to engage AI responsibly within their disciplines and in service to the common good.
The first asynchronous experience, the AI Literacy Pathway, is available now. Through a guided Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) learning experience, participants engage curated sources to understand the fundamentals of modern AI, evaluate AI outputs, and discern appropriate use of emerging technologies. The pathway concludes with the development of a discipline-specific AI literacy framework.
You can learn more about the AI Literacy Pathway here, or you can dive right in and start the learning experience here.
The second asynchronous experience, Flourishing Online with Modern AI, will launch soon and will complement the AI literacy training with a more traditional modular experience in Canvas. In this self-paced course, particpants will reflect on Magnifica Humanitas in light of Lasallian approaches to educational technology as they create whole-person learning environments that are AI-resilient and ordered toward promoting human flourishing and the common good.
Note: All colleagues at Saint Mary’s should have access to the AI Literacy Pathway Notebook. If you do not have direct access when clicking the link, please contact Chris Adamson (cadamson@smumn.edu) to get added manually.
