Register your Fall 2026 internship for academic credit! If you plan to earn credit this semester, you must complete registration by Thursday, August 27.
⚠️ CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: You cannot start counting or earning internship hours until your registration request is fully approved and officially enrolled in Handshake.
⏳ 4 Steps to Complete Before Thursday, Aug 27
- Confirm Your Hours & Credits
- Work with your faculty advisor to determine your credits and required hours (Minimum: 45 hours per credit — e.g., 3 credits = 135 total hours / ~9 hrs/week).
- Create Your Learning Plan
- Collaborate with your faculty advisor and site supervisor to complete the Learning Plan Template.
- Submit Your Request in Handshake
- Go to Handshake to submit your Experience request. For step-by-step instructions, visit the “Submit A Registration Request For Your Internship” section on the Internship Registration page.
- Final Enrollment
- Once all forms are submitted and approved, you will be officially enrolled in your internship credits. Keep an eye out for confirmation from internships@smumn.edu.
🗓️ Key Dates & Course Details
Fall Internship Dates: August 31 – December 11
Coursework Requirements: Regular timesheet/paystub submissions + 2 reflection papers during the semester.
