FY26 Fiscal Year End Reminders
As we approach the end of the 2025-2026 fiscal year (FY26), please take a few minutes to review the information and important dates below. Please remember, all budget managers are stewards of our financial resources and share the responsibility for fiscal management.
Department Expense review:
Budget managers are responsible for transactions posted to your area budgets and are expected to review all expenses to ensure accuracy. You can access your department budget through the Nest or the links found on the Business Office webpage. Please note that you must be on the campus network, or connected to the VPN, in order to access the budget reports. If you find errors, please complete an inter-departmental transfer form (found on the Business Office webpage) and submit the completed form to SMUMN Business Office no later than Friday, June 12, 2026. Requests received after this date will not be processed.
Important Dates and Deadlines:
- Sunday, May 31, 2026: The last day of the Fiscal Year
- Monday, June 1, 2026: Deadline to submit FY26 payroll requests (advising, independent studies, etc.) to be included in the final FY26 payroll.
- Wednesday, June 10, 2026:
- Deadline to submit May 2026 expense reports / credit card charges
- Deadline to submit all FY26 Out-of-Pocket reimbursement requests
- Deadline to submit invoices to be paid from FY26
- If you are submitting payment requests for FY27, please note this in the comments section and special handling instructions in Chrome River
- Friday, June 12, 2026: Deadline to submit interdepartmental transfer requests to correct FY26 entries
Fiscal Year 2026 -2027 (FY27) Budgets
During the Board of Trustees meetings held on Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Budget was officially approved. The Finance department is currently completing the final adjustments to reflect the approved budget. The final approved budget is scheduled to be uploaded to the portal by Friday, June 19th. We thank you for your understanding and patience.
