Anime club is pleased to announce that they are hosting a Year-end Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament, with a Champions bracket and a Noob bracket. Welcoming the end of the school year with a fun way to blow off some steam right before we are all bogged down by finals. The bracket will be run in sequence, with the Champions bracket being run first and then the Noob bracket. The champions bracket functions just like any other competition, where the winner of each match moves up and faces the next person until they win the final match. This is where most of our skilled and higher-tiered casual players will be trying to prove that they are the best on campus. The winner of this bracket gets the “official title” of “Best SMUMN Smash Ultimate Player.” Meanwhile, the Noob Bracket functions differently. This bracket will instead have the loser of each match be the one to move forward. Ultimately, this results in the “winner” of the bracket being declared “SMUMN’s Biggest Noob Smash Ultimate Player.” The word “Noob” is a label given to players with the lowest experience and skills in a game. The intention here is a light-hearted joke at one’s inexperience, but through the battles, it shows that even if you can’t win, you still never give up. We hope that everyone has a great time, and sticks around to see their fellow SMUMN students fight for glory…………virtually. -Kevin Porcayo, Anime Club President
