Please extend a warm Saint Mary’s University welcome to Karen Stellpflug, who joins the Financial Affairs team this week as our new Controller. Karen brings extensive experience managing accounting teams, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, financial reporting, payroll and more while serving as the Controller and Accounting Manager in several private and non-profit environments. Karen’s educational background includes Bachelor degrees in Finance (UW-LaCrosse) and Human Resource Management (UW-Eau Claire), and an MBA Accounting (Univ. of St. Thomas). We are thrilled to have found an experienced accounting professional, enthusiastic learner and someone ready to step in and lead our Business Office team.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Christine Spears, Interim Controller, for her service since joining us late last June. Christine successfully navigated the 2025 fiscal year end and external financial audit while managing the Business Office team. We are grateful for Christine’s service and I am pleased to share that she will remain part of the team for the next few months during our transition.
