This past Saturday, Winona was featured in a viral short that captured the special community we are all apart of!
One Winona: The Making of a Hockey Town is produced by the Minnesota Wild in association with TRIA Orthopedics, and provides an intimate portrait of what it takes to become a hockey town, and more importantly, why you’d want to be one in the first place. The special introduces viewers to a passionate group determined to make Winona a hockey town by doing things in a different way.
Winona was one of eleven cities to participate in a pilot program from the Minnesota Wild called Skate It Forward. The program removes financial barriers for first-time players, aiming to make the first year of hockey free for youth in Minnesota.
In the 30min program, Saint Mary’s was repeatedly mentioned and a few of your very own Cardinals were featured in the story! Check out the short below or head over to the Winona Public Library this Saturday to watch!
