Duo Security (Cisco) is enforcing a critical update to its certificate authority. Starting February 2, 2026, older versions of the Duo Mobile app (pre-version 4.85.0) and outdated clients will no longer receive Duo Push notifications or complete mobile-based 2FA verifications.
How to Check & Update (Step-by-Step – Takes <1 Minute)
On your phone, open Duo Mobile app > Tap the menu (three lines) > Scroll to bottom for version number (e.g., 4.102.0.0 is good; <4.85.0 needs update).
If you need to run an update follow these steps:
1.Update via App Store/Google Play:
Android: Search “Duo Mobile” > Update (requires Android 11+).
2.iOS: App Store > Updates tab.
3.If no auto-update: Uninstall/reinstall from official stores (duo.com/docs/mobile).
4.Test: Log in to a university service (e.g., smumn.edu portal) and approve a Push.
