Saint Mary’s welcomes Dr. Katie McGowan as the new director of the EDD program in the Graduate School of Education. Katie comes to Saint Mary’s with two decades of experience in higher education including academic administration, institutional effectiveness, and strategic planning.
Katie served as Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Impact at The American College of Financial Services where she led accreditation, assessment, and enterprise project management. She has also held leadership roles at SUNY Delhi and SUNY Broome Community College overseeing academic support units, faculty development, online learning, and student success initiatives.
She earned her Ed.D. in Educational Theory, Research, and Practice from Binghamton University. Her research and teaching interests focus on student access, dual enrollment pathways, and institutional transformation through data-informed improvement. She has published and presented nationally on assessment, accreditation, and student success.
The first doctoral program at Saint Mary’s and one of the first in Minnesota, the EDD program attracts students from across the country and internationally in both its traditional research and executive options. Katie’s commitment to academic excellence, experience with enrollment and recruiting, and dedication to serving students aligns with Saint Mary’s Lasallian Catholic mission and is a welcome addition to the Graduate School of Education.
