Saint Mary’s athletic programs are in full swing, and there’s plenty to be excited about as we head into the final week of fall sports before the winter seasons begin next week. Don’t miss your chance to cheer on the Cardinals throughout the week!

CROSS COUNTRY AT INTERREGIONAL MEET

After a weekend off from competition, the Cardinal cross country teams return to action at one of the biggest meets of the season. They’ll travel to Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday, October 18, to compete in the Augustana College Interregional Invitational, which features more than 40 teams from across the region.

The day begins with the men’s race at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women’s race at 11:45 a.m.

CONFERENCE BATTLE FOR WOMEN’S SOCCER

Following a one-game week that ended in a tough 2-1 loss to St. Catherine in a MIAC Championship rematch, the Cardinals women’s soccer team (8-3-2, 2-2-2) is gearing up for a big week of competition. They kick things off on Tuesday, October 14 at 4:00 p.m., hosting St. Olaf (11-1-1, 5-0-1)—currently second in the conference and riding a six-game win streak.

The Cardinals then hit the road to face Carleton (9-1-2, 5-0-1) on Saturday, October 18 at 3:30 p.m. The Knights sit atop the MIAC standings and are ranked No. 24 nationally. It’s a challenging week ahead for Saint Mary’s with two major matchups on deck.

SPLIT WEEK OF GAMES FOR MEN’S SOCCER

After a bye weekend and a strong 4-1 win over UW-Stout last Wednesday to close out nonconference play, the Cardinal men’s soccer (4-6-3, 1-3-1) team now shifts its focus solely to MIAC competition for the remainder of the season.

The week begins with a major test on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m., as the Cardinals host No. 8-ranked St. Olaf (11-1-2, 6-0), the current conference leader. They’ll then hit the road to face Carleton (7-3-2, 1-2-2) on Saturday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. Both matchups are key opportunities, with each team looking to secure its second conference win.

HOME GAME FOR VOLLEYBALL

It was a packed week for the Saint Mary’s volleyball team (10-10, 3-2), who went 2-1 over three matches, picking up wins against Hamline and Macalester and falling in a hard-fought five-set battle to Concordia.

Now riding a two-game win streak, the Cardinals shift their focus to a single, high-stakes matchup this week. They’ll host second-place Saint Benedict (13-4, 4-1) on Saturday, October 18 at 5:00 p.m.

Best of luck to our Cardinals this week, and safe travels to everyone hitting the road. Go Cardinals!
