The Master of Social Work (MSW) program is proud to recognize the recent accomplishments of
its outstanding faculty, whose scholarship, teaching, and leadership continue to elevate the field
of social work education.

Dr. Kelly Ward and colleagues have released the 5th edition of their influential field text,
“Breaking out of the Box: Adventure-Based Field Education”, published by Oxford University
Press. This updated edition continues to serve as a critical resource for innovative field education
practices.

Dr. Linda Long and colleagues contributed to the book “Invisible Walls: A Basic Student Guide to
Effective Race Relations in the 21st Century” (Cognella) with the chapter, “Does Skin Color
Matter: A Short History of Race”. She also presented at the most recent Council on Social Work
Education (CSWE) conference in St. Louis, MO, leading a session on “Utilizing Evidence-Based
Instruction Strategies to Engage Social Work Online Students”.

Dr. George Dupuy recently celebrated two major milestones: the publication of his first scholarly
article, “Increasing Competence to Address Spiritual Diversity in Social Work Practice”, in the
Journal of Social Work Education, and his promotion to Associate Professor at Saint Mary’s.

Finally, congratulations to Dr. Mallory Knipe, who was promoted to Full Professor as she enters
her sixth year with the MSW program. Additionally, Dr. Knipe’s recent article, “The Critical
Need for Critical Consciousness: Exploring Challenges and Examining Solutions”, was published
in the Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work and adds a vital perspective to social work
education.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the MSW core faculty for their impressive
contributions to research, scholarship, and student success!
