After a whirlwind weekend with schedule changes, the Cardinals are back on track to kick off the week.

TENNIS FINISHES STRONG

The Saint Mary’s tennis program had a packed weekend on the road. The women faced two duels, starting on Saturday in Duluth, where they were defeated but quickly bounced back with a 4-3 victory over UW-Stout in Menomonie. That win also marked head coach Jeff Halberg’s 300th career win in women’s tennis. On the men’s side, they were defeated by the Saints on Saturday.

The team is focused on finishing the season strong with their final match this Saturday, April 12th, traveling to Saint John’s and Saint Benedict.

EIGHT GAME SOFTBALL WEEK

After a flawless weekend at home with four shutouts, including a career-high 15 strikeouts from star pitcher Mayakla Steffes, the Cardinals are gearing up for an exciting week with eight games ahead.

The Cardinals begin the week on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Gustavus Adolphus, who sits at second in the conference, starting at 3:30 p.m. They’ll have less than 24 hours to regroup before hosting UW-La Crosse on Wednesday for their final non conference games of the season.

After a two-day break, they’ll return to host Bethel on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. This game will hold even more significance as the community eagerly anticipates welcoming back the alumni from the historic 2000 National Championship team to celebrate them on that day.

Following another quick turnaround, they’ll travel to Northfield to face St. Olaf on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and close out the busy week.

HOME TRACK & FIELD

The track and field program was in Iowa this past weekend, delivering one of their best overall team performances of the season! It’s an exciting week ahead as they prepare to host their first and only meet of the season this weekend!

The team is excited to host the SMU Invite this Saturday and hoping to have the Cardinal faithful in attendance!

BASEBALL ON THE ROAD

After a hectic week of schedule changes, the Saint Mary’s baseball team is eager to get back on track as they hit the road this week.

The team went 1-3 over the weekend at home, getting swept by St. Olaf and splitting the series with Macalester on Sunday.

The team will head out on the road to face the Augsburg Auggies on Wednesday, starting at 2:30 p.m. They will then take on the Hamline Pipers in the city, with the first game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. under the lights.

It’s a busy week for Cardinal athletics—be sure to stay tuned to SMUMNAthletics social media for any potential schedule changes.
