For Satish, a small school makes a big difference

From cardiovascular surgery to pickleball, the range of Priyanka Satish’s interests knows no bounds. While she planned to go to a state school to play basketball, she found that Saint Mary’s “small, niche community” allowed her to pursue all of her interests, vast as they might be.

She has started a pickleball club with over 165 members while studying in the 3+2 Accelerated Physician Assistant program with Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences and working as a Makerspace Intern. She is a leader in the academic community as well, serving as a tutor for both chemistry and biology. She believes Saint Mary’s tight-knit community is what has allowed her to have these opportunities. “I love this campus,” she said. “I don’t know what I’d do at a big school.”
