A Licensed Practical Nurse from Winona Health, Eric Palubicki serves our campus community at the Jay Johnson Wellness Center in the basement of Saint Mary’s Hall.
“The people are the best part of my job,” Eric said. “Saint Mary’s students are always polite and easygoing, which makes this a great place to work.”
Eric’s journey into healthcare was inspired by his mother, who underwent two open-heart surgeries during his youth. When he was in high school, she encouraged him to pursue a career in the medical field. He became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and spent eight years working at St. Anne Extended Healthcare. He later became an LPN and has been with Winona Health for four years.
When he’s at Saint Mary’s, Eric offers students support and care in a relaxed setting. “Everybody’s been really nice,” he said. “It’s a laid-back environment and I appreciate that.”
Outside of work, Eric enjoys hunting, fishing, and rooting for Minnesota sports teams, such as the Vikings, Wild, and Twins. He also spends time with his dog, Leroy, a red heeler Australian cattle dog mix.
Eric wishes more students knew about the free health services available to them through the Wellness Center. “We’re here and available for them,” he said. He also noted that flu and strep throat tests are offered, so students should take advantage of those offerings if they’re concerned during peak illness seasons.
Based on his own life and career journey, Eric offers a piece of advice for Saint Mary’s students: “Patience and being a good listener go a long way.”
