Today marks the beginning of our annual De La Salle Week celebration, which culminates tomorrow with Founders’ Day.

Each year, Saint Mary’s sets aside the third week of March to commemorate our Lasallian Catholic mission and heritage. This week is filled with various activities, which differ from year to year, in order to bring the community together to celebrate who we are and what we are about.

The main event annually is Founders’ Day, which honors Saint John Baptist de La Salle, Bishop Heffron, the Christian Brothers, and others who have played a pivotal role in the history of Saint Mary’s. The day is designed on a truncated schedule for the College to set it apart and allow all members of the community to participate in the events of the day, specifically Mass and Convocation. It is a wonderful opportunity to come together in joyful prayer and celebration, recognizing those that paved the way for us and those that illuminate the mission today as our awardees.

Take a moment to reflect on who at Saint Mary’s has brought our Lasallian Catholic mission and identity alive for you. If you are able, thank them for their witness in shaping your lived experience here at Saint Mary’s.
