Inspired by the 46th General Chapter, the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools has declared 2025 the Year of Lasallian Spirituality.
This spirituality, embodied by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, is demonstrated by faith in God’s providence, zeal for educating the young, and being together and by association in our educational mission.
The graphic shown here is taken from Lasallian Spirituality Today and is a visual representation of Lasallian Spirituality. It begins with our core belief in God, who is the center of our life. Our belief in God leads us to be in relationship with Him through an interior life and with one another, in particular the poor. The manifestation of Lasallian Spirituality is conveyed in the concept of together and by association. Through our association with the Brothers and with one another, we are together in the mission of educating the young, in particular by providing a human and Christian education to the students entrusted to our care.
Let us as God, our Father, for the grace to live our call as Catholic educators in the Lasallian Tradition.
Prayer for the Year of Lasallian Spirituality
Loving and Merciful God,
As we enter this Year of Lasallian Spirituality,
we ask for your grace to renew our hearts and minds
so that we may live with deeper faith, greater hope and stronger love.
We thank you for the gift of Saint John Baptist de La Salle,
whose spiritual vision of education and service to the poor
continues to inspire us today.
May we follow his example of humility,
devotion, and service to those most in need.
In this year, may we draw closer to you
through prayer, reflection and action,
that our hearts may burn with the same spiritual zeal
for the mission of education that De La Salle had.
May we, like the early Brothers of the Christian Schools,
grow in interiority, recognize the Presence of God in the poor,
marginalized and neglected,
and offer the light of Christ to all we encounter.
We place our lives in your hands, O God,
trusting that you will empower us to live faithfully,
to serve joyfully,
and to work together in the spirit of unity and community,
as one Lasallian family throughout the world.
We ask this through Christ,
our Teacher, our Brother, our Savior.
Amen.
Saint John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
Saint Joseph, patron of the Institute, pray for us.
Mary, queen and mother of the Christian Schools, pray for us.
Blessed Nicholas Roland, pray for us.
Blessed James Miller, pray for us.
