In a collaboration between Geospatial Services (GSS) and the Biology department, the University will be hiring two summer interns to support an ongoing plan for management and monitoring of ecosystem restorations at Cascade Meadow on the University’s Rochester campus. Internships will last 10 weeks and pay $12.50/hr, plus campus housing. The start date is flexible but will be early to mid-May. (Note: a University vehicle will be provided for travel between the Winona and Rochester campuses)
Position Description:
Interns will assist SMUMN staff and faculty in managing and monitoring the restorations at Cascade Meadow. Management will primarily involve invasive plant control. Additional experiences will include water quality assessment, small mammal population monitoring, and tree data collection. This unique opportunity will provide interns with valuable professional experience in vegetation management planning, field sampling techniques, plant identification, and water quality assessment.
